Reviews of Columbus College of Art & Design

If I could give this school zero stars, I would. The tuition is outrageous and the staff is terrible. I was cussed at by a teacher, who plays favorites among her students and speaks to those she does not favor as if they are the dumbest person on the planet, despite her complete inability to use proper grammar or talk like she is educated. In fact, the woman has absolutely no credentials to teach and has never taught before, these are the types of instructors this school hires. She lost many of my submitted assignments, accused me very rudely of not doing my work and "playing a game" and lying to her, then in the same class session magically located my GRADED assignments and returned them to me, without any kind of apology. After speaking to my department head about her use of language and her constantly accusing me of being a liar, I was still told that the situation was not serious enough to be reported and to just "push through" to the end of the semester. I have multiple medical issues, the main of which being a heart issue, migraines, disorientation, and blackouts. I get severely ill during these flare ups to the point that I cannot get out of bed or turn lights on, and these occur multiple times per week despite all of the medication I have to take for it. When I tried to obtain an accommodation letter to help me make it through all of my classes, I was told that my conditions were "not severe enough to warrant any type of assistance" and that I did not have enough documentation (they have three years worth of detailed medical history from both my doctor and my neurologist). All but one of my teachers had zero understanding for this and threatened to fail me for not being able to attend class, which forced me to have to drop 75% of my class load. But of course, I am still charged the full amount of tuition despite my current load of 9 credit hours. Did you know that you have to PAY a percentage of your overall tuition if you wish to drop a class prior to the six week mark?? Ridiculous! This school cares more about cheating their students out of their money than they do about delivering a successful educational experience. I have never once eaten in the school cafeteria due to medical reasons, not to mention the fact that the food is disgusting, yet the school refuses to refund me the $2000 I was forced to pay for a meal plan which I have not used. The teachers do not teach most are unqualified, and they take every opportunity to make you feel as inadequate and incompetent as possible, and the students are cruel and competitive. If you are not an art prodigy you are treated like you don't belong, and no one bothers to teach you anything- you are just expected to magically know everything. Overall this school is the biggest waste of time and money, and I have never felt like more of an idiot than I have since attending this school. It is literally hell on earth, and I promise you there is no exaggeration in that statement. Being able to leave this horrible institution at the end of this semester will be the best Christmas present I have ever received. Unfortunately I will be paying the $20,000 tuition for this single semester for many many years to come. I wish I would have known how awful this place was before I chose to attend. Do your research before you pick a school, kids!
