I read the review listed below the day of my surgery when I was trying to get the address for this office....and was VERY nervous about my upcoming surgery. I was told when I made the appointment that I would be "put under", so I tried not to worry about this patience's experience. When I went in for my consultation (the day of my surgery) I specifically asked again about the procedure and being put to sleep (after reading this troubling review) and was told that technically, I would not be put under, I would be put in twilight. I was told that most people end up falling asleep, but regardless I would not feel any pain. After being in the surgical room for 5 minutes I was given an IV, and then 5 or 6 people around the room (nurses and doctors) stopped what they were doing for 2-3 minutes and just stared at me. It was slightly awkward, and I assumed they were waiting for me to fall asleep, so I closed my eyes. I believe I was asleep for a few minutes, but was abruptly awakened when I felt the pain of my left wisdom tooth being removed. I immediately started moaning in pain and crying, the doctor then gripped the right side of my mouth harder to quickly remove the right tooth, which I also felt being removed. The doctor gripped the ride side of my mouth so hard that I had a bruise ABOVE my lip for days after. Keep in mind, there was no bruising anywhere close to where my wisdom teeth were removed, it was in between my upper lip and nose where I was being held down. For whatever reason, it seems this office feels the need to not fully check to make sure patients are fully numb and remove teeth anyways. I have had several cysts removed, in which, the area had to be numb. Each time I have had any of those procedures done the doctor repeatedly checks the area to make sure everything is numb, in the chance that I can feel something they stop what they are doing, and numb the area a little more. I did not expect a wisdom extraction to be painless at all, however, I also did not expect to be awake, and sobbing, while multiple people held me down to hurry up and get the procedure over with. When my mother came back into the room to get me after surgery and I was still crying, she asked the nurse why I would be in so much pain and the nurse said that the medication they gave me could make me cry- that I was not in pain. I was given a mouthwash from this office and told to rinse my mouth twice a day with it. Everyone I know who has had their wisdom teeth removed asked why I was not given the syringe to remove food particles? I didn't worry about it because I thought that was normal procedure and everything would be fine. After 1 1/2 weeks of being on Tylenol or Advil every 4-6 hours, I decided to go to my regular dentist to figure out if everything was okay. They spent 30 minutes getting food out from my extraction points. I was still in so much pain because there was food stuck and it was prohibiting my healing. My dentist was shocked that I was not given the syringe to use daily with the mouthwash. My dentist proscribed me another mouthwash and gave me a syringe. I called Douglas Anderson's office and spoke with 3 different people about my situation...no one was able to even offer condolences on my experience. They said that everything that happened was proper procedure and that was it. I would STRONGLY urge anyone who is looking to have an oral surgery to look elsewhere. This office is in for quick money and do not care about their customers.
